Custom alert

What it does

Mutes the app’s normal alert and plays your chosen sound and vibration instead, so you can tell what it is without looking.

Related settings

• Settings → Custom alert actions → Custom alert when screen on

  • “Use custom alert” (this is the default)
  • “Use default alert”. The app’s normal alert plays instead while the screen is on.
  • “Don’t alert”

• Settings → Custom alert actions → Custom alert importance level

  • “All important notifications” (this is the default)
  • “Audible or vibrating notifications only”

• Settings → Custom alert actions → Synchronise sound & vibration

  • Off by default. When off, the vibration starts immediately and the sound plays once the original has been muted.

Good to know

• Only triggers for notifications that would have made a sound or vibration. Notification categories set to silent do not trigger the rule.
• With the ringer on vibrate, only the vibration plays unless you use an Unsilence rule instead.
