Unsilence

What it does

Plays the notification’s sound and vibration through the alarm volume, which ignores ringer and silent mode. For incoming calls it temporarily sets the ringer to normal so the ringtone plays. This allows important notifications or phone calls to “break through” the silent ringer or do not disturb.

Related settings

• Settings → Unsilence actions → Adjust silent ringer mode for calls
  • Off by default. Only enable this if calls don’t unsilence by default. It can have side effects such as switching on Do Not Disturb.

Good to know

• Only triggers when the device is actually silenced.
• Because it plays through the alarm stream, your alarm volume and Do Not Disturb’s alarm setting control it, not the ringer. If alarm volume is zero, only the vibration plays.
